Out-of-Favor England Spinner Claims Hat-Trick in T20 Blast, Powers Kent to Huge Win

Leg-spinner Matt Parkinson, once overlooked by England, delivered a standout performance for his new county, Kent Spitfires, by securing his first professional hat-trick in the ongoing T20 Blast. His exceptional bowling helped Kent achieve a 98-run victory over Middlesex, who were bowled out for 106 while chasing a daunting target of 206 runs.

Parkinson, who switched to Kent over the winter, repaid their faith with a stellar display on the second day of the 2024 T20 Blast. He finished with impressive figures of 4/25, including his hat-trick, as Middlesex struggled and ultimately succumbed to a significant defeat.

Reflecting on his achievement, Parkinson shared, “It’s my first professional hat-trick. It was fun, and it was obviously nice to take wickets. It’s been a fairly tough start to the season, so I’ve earned those wickets, I think.” The hat-trick unfolded in the 12th over, starting with the dismissal of Jack Davies on the first ball. Parkinson then removed Tom Helm, caught at long off, before completing the hat-trick by dismissing Henry Brookes, caught at short cover.
