Dockrell will immediately be included in the squad for Emirates Old Trafford’s fixture against Notts Outlaws.

For this summer’s Vitality Blast T20 competition, Irish all-rounder George Dockrell will be an overseas addition to the Lancashire Lightning team.

Dockrell will immediately be added to the squad for the Emirates Old Trafford match against Notts Outlaws. He will stay in the team for all subsequent games, including any potential September knockout matches.

Regarding the signing, George Dockrell said the following:

“I am delighted to join the Club for the rest of this summer’s Vitality Blast, and I am looking forward to helping Lancashire Lightning push for some silverware this season. We are in a really strong position in the North Group, with two important home games remaining as we look to secure that all important home quarter-final at Emirates Old Trafford in September.”

Lancashire head coach Dale Benkenstein also added:

“We are really pleased to add George into our squad for the rest of the Vitality Blast this year. With the potential for knockout round matches in September and uncertainty around player availability, George provides us with another overseas option for the latter stages. He will go straight into the squad for the final two matches of the group stage this week and will offer us an experienced left-arm spin option, while he can also be a match-winner with the bat in the finisher role as he has proven on the international stage with Ireland.”

Kent suffered their fourth straight loss in a rain-affected South Group match.

Marnus Labuschagne delivered a standout performance with both bat and ball, leading Glamorgan to a 13-run victory over Kent in a rain-shortened dead-rubber at Canterbury.

With neither team realistically able to reach the quarter-finals, the match was more of a formality. Heavy rain reduced the contest to 13 overs per side.

Glamorgan posted 145/6, driven by Labuschagne explosive 50* off 26 balls and his tight bowling spell of 1/14 in two overs. 18 contributions came from openers and skipper Kiran Carlson and William Amale. At the same time, Colin Ingram chipped in with a quickfire 26, striking at a rate of 200.

Kent’s bowlers, Marcus O’Riordan and Joey Evison, each claimed a wicket but at a costly economy rate of 11 runs per over.

In their chase, Kent was on track with the target until the end of the fifth over, trailing by just four runs with two wickets down—matching Glamorgan’s earlier position. However, a slow couple of overs that yielded only eight runs hurt their momentum, compounded by Labuschagne’s crucial wicket of O’Riordan.

Despite valiant efforts from Kent’s captain and wicketkeeper-batter, Sam Billings, and Tom Rogers, scoring in the 30s, the team fell 13 runs short of the target.

Mason Crane, typically an economical and reliable wicket-taker, had an off day, conceding 35 runs in his two overs. Nonetheless, Glamorgan managed to secure the consolation win.
