Bears Will Introduce a New Look for Vitality Blast in 2024 – T20

For this year’s Vitality Blast, the Birmingham Bears have revealed a brand-new shirt that exudes extraordinary instead of ordinary.

As the Bears bring a festival feel to Edgbaston this summer, the striking design is a new look for the Club’s T20 side. It’s all about friends, laughter, and enjoying life.

The shirt, made entirely of recycled materials from PlayerLayer, is currently available for pre-order from Store ’94. Sizes for men, women, and children are available, and delivery is anticipated in mid-April.

“The top is very different, I like it,” said spinner Jake Lintott. “It has a retro feel, and I’m sure the fans will be into it. It’ll look great in the Hollies on a sunny match day.

“We want to stand out with an aggressive style of cricket, and the shirt mirrors that.”

In addition to members of the disability Access Team and local community supporters, the launch features Bears men’s and women’s players, including the English duo of Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes. The footage was shot at various locations in Birmingham.

PlayerLayer’s Roderick Bradley said: “We built on the creativity of previous years with a new design that pushes both ours and cricket’s creative boundaries.

“We want to bring the carnival of cricket to life with this shirt and can’t wait to see it in action out on-the-field at Edgbaston, in the stands and at festivals this summer.”

Head of Marketing & Brand, Chris Airey, added: “As Bears, we want to be bold, brave and express ourselves both on and off-the-field and the new shirt certainly does this.”

“It’s a completely new look and we can’t wait to paint the region blue and yellow this June and July. We had a record year in 2023 and tickets are again in high demand already as the Vitality Blast action at Edgbaston promised to be the go-to event in Birmingham this summer.”

Ali desired Garton and Gleeson to be the new Bears duo at Worcestershire.

Moeen Ali is excited about the idea of starting alongside George Garton and Richard Gleeson in a revamped Bears T20 bowling attack.

Additionally, the all-rounder disclosed how he attempted to sign both of his new England international teammates while serving as Worcestershire’s captain.

Ali, who played a significant role at New Road in player recruitment, claimed he was “pretty close” to attracting Sussex’s Garton and Lancashire’s Gleeson.

He said: “They are two players I tried to sign when I was captain at Worcestershire a few years ago. Gleeson and Garton are top players, great guys, and I knew they were the kinds of players I wanted to push us forward. They’d improve any side.”

“They were pretty close to signing but we couldn’t quite get them over the line; they opted to stay at their counties. Better late than never, though, and I’m really glad they’re here now with the Bears and can’t wait to get going with them.”

“The signings we’ve made have really strengthened us, We were a good side anyway but with the likes of Garts and Gleeson coming in it’ll take us to the next level. Both are at the top of their game.

“Glees brings a lot of experience, great variety and skill. And Garts brings the whole package with his batting, bowling a fielding. I’m really excited to have these two players on board.”

Before his unexpected Ashes international recall, Ali appeared in four Vitality Blast games for the Bears in the previous season.

Although he is a candidate for England’s  T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the United States in June, he would still be available for the Bears’ six Vitality Blast games in July even if he were picked for the squad.

“I love playing here at Edgbaston,” he added. “Last year was difficult for me, only playing the four games before the Ashes. I feel like this year I can play more games, help get us to the knock out stages, and be part of a title winning side.”
