A spokesperson from the RPO Office revealed that a meticulous inspection of Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium was conducted, with the RPO overseeing all arrangements, including security. This comprehensive assessment led to the implementation of enhanced security measures for the upcoming cricket matches, ensuring the safety and comfort of all attendees.
He mentioned that all preparations were completed with a focus on ensuring the comfort and safety of cricket fans.
He further emphasized that the police have consistently been instrumental in advancing international sports and cultural events in the country by ensuring robust security.
He noted that diligent efforts were underway to ensure that the daily activities of residents, traders, and businesspeople were not disrupted during the matches. The teams were given the most direct routes to guarantee their safety, with traffic restrictions applied solely during their transit between accommodations and the stadium.
He also mentioned that a control room had been established at Shahbaz Sharif Sports Gymnasium. This control room will serve as the nerve center for overseeing security operations and ensuring proper management of all arrangements, including monitoring the CCTV footage, coordinating with on-ground personnel, and responding to any security-related incidents in real-time.
A police spokesperson stated that City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, had instructed officers to finalize comprehensive security measures for the cricket teams, their routes, and the stadium.
He highlighted the proactive approach to traffic management, with a detailed plan developed to ensure smooth traffic flow on the city’s roads during the matches. This initiative was designed to minimize disruptions for residents, traders, and businesspeople, making their daily activities more manageable.
He underscored the use of advanced technology for monitoring, with a control room established to oversee all security arrangements. This technological advancement was aimed at ensuring the safety and security of all attendees, enhancing the overall experience of the matches.
He stated that all available resources were being utilized, including deploying police personnel, senior officers, and officials from various police units, such as the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, and Elite Force.
He added that security personnel carried out security checks, patrolled, and managed traffic during the matches to ensure robust event security and uninterrupted traffic flow.
He mentioned that the stadium was being secured with three layers of protection, with entry permitted only after thorough screening. Additionally, patrols by the Dolphin Squad, Elite Force, and Police Response Unit were actively monitoring critical areas of the city.
He also noted that snipers had been stationed on rooftops to oversee and monitor all activities during the matches. These highly trained personnel will provide an additional layer of security, ensuring that any potential threats are identified and neutralized before they can pose a risk to the safety of the players, officials, and spectators at the stadium.
