Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani shared an inspiring message for Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and other members of the team after a disappointing IPL 2024 campaign.
The Mumbai Indians ended the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 campaign bottom of the 10-team points table, securing just 4 wins from 10 matches. The season saw Hardik Pandya take over the captaincy from Rohit Sharma, a decision that remained in the headlines throughout the campaign. As the Mumbai Indians squad gathered together for one last time this season, owner Nita Ambani had no qualms in calling the season a disappointing one for all. She admitted that there’s a need to go back and review what happened in this campaign.
In a video shared by the Mumbai Indians on social media, Mrs. Ambani, not just as an owner but also as a fan, spoke about the manner in which the current season ended for the side.
“Disappointing season for all of us. Things didn’t go the way we wanted them to, but I’m still a huge Mumbai Indians fan. Not just an owner. I think to wear the Mumbai Indians jersey is a huge honour and a privilege, and to be associated with Mumbai Indians, for me, is an honour and a privilege. I think, we will go back, review and think about it,” Ambani said.
Mrs. Ambani also had a message for the Indian quartet of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah, who will now start preparations for the T20 World Cup 2024 as part of the Indian squad.
“To Rohit, Hardik, Surya (Suryakumar Yadav) and (Jasprit) Bumrah, I think, all Indians are cheering for you. We wish you all the best,” she added.
The T20 World Cup 2024 campaign begins for the Indian team on June 05, with the first match against Ireland. India will also take on Bangladesh in a warm-up clash on June 01.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru produced a dramatic turnaround in their IPL 2024 journey, confirming their playoff progression with a thrilling victory against Chennai Super Kings.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru women’s team star Shreyanka Patil was in no mood to go easy on critics and trolls who questioned if the franchise could secure a top 4 spot after losing 7 of the first 8 matches. In a post on social media, Patil gave a smashing reply to those who questioned if the Bengaluru side had the mettle to qualify for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 playoffs. After RCB beat Chennai Super Kings to confirm their progression, Patil lauded the team, asserting that sometimes, even a 1 percent chance is enough.
“”There is a 1 % chance.. and sometimes that is good enough.” To all of you who laughed at us when these images were being circulated, it ain’t too late! Jump onto the RCB train; you’ll be in for one crazy ride!!! This Team,” Patil wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
After RCB’s win against CSK, even wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik gave a passionate speech in the dressing room.
“People will always remember certain journeys. The way we have come back after eight games, we needed to win six, people will remember this team,” Karthik said.
“Every year in this tournament, when you hit the seven-game mark, there will be one or two teams which would have probably won one or two and they will look to us and say, ‘RCB did it. That was special. We are going to try and repeat what RCB did’. That is what we all play cricket for, sport for, where people follow us and believe us that they can do something special. It is hard. It is not going to be easy, I can tell any team that. What we have achieved today is very, very special,” Karthik further added.
The Bengaluru franchise is now set to take on Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator. The winner of the match will then take on the loser of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2. The winner of Qualifier 2 will then square off against the finalist (winner of Qualifier 1) for the title.
