“See Who The Fielder Is”: Sunil Gavaskar’s Scintillating On-Air Remark On Virat Kohli – Indian Premier League

Virat Kohli had a rare failure with the bat on Wednesday as RCB were knocked out of IPL 2024.

Virat Kohli caught Sunil Gavaskar’s attention with his top-notch fielding.

Virat Kohli was a livewire on the outfield during the IPL 2024 Eliminator between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Kohli, who scored 33 off 24 balls, saved plenty of runs for RCB with his fielding in the deep. In the 12th over of RR’s 173-run chase, Kohli covered plenty of ground near the midwicket boundary before unleashing a bullet throw to end Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel’s partnership.

Cameron Green received Kohli’s throw at the non-striker’s end before dislodging the bails to give Jurel his marching orders. Kohli, however, caught the attention of former India captain Sunil Gavaskar with his top-notch fielding.

Gavaskar questioned Jurel and Parag’s decision to go for a second run, especially with Kohli patrolling the midwicket region.

“Yes, the throw is even more important. Flat! Once you hesitate, you do not proceed. Was there a second run? You also see who the fielder is. If there is any other fielder, go for the second. This is a big deal, big deal. I think he is gone. Magnificent effort. He has got RCB back in the game,” Gavaskar said on-air.

Kohli had a rare failure with the bat on Wednesday as RCB was knocked out of IPL 2024.

He leads the batting charts in IPL 2024 with 741 runs, including a century and five fifties, but failed to inspire his team to the finish in a roller-coaster season.

RCB head coach Andy Flower praised Kohli for his enduring “hunger” for the game.

“Working in the same dressing room with him has been a real pleasure,” former Zimbabwe captain and England coach Flower told reporters.

“The way he thinks about the game — and he backs that up with an amazing level of skill, aggression, and hunger — I look forward to watching him in the World Cup,” Flower said.

“I think it’s amazing that he is still evolving his game, even though he has got an incredible record already,” he added.

Dinesh Karthik’s Wife Deepika Breaks Down, Virat Kohli Pays Tribute In Emotional RCB Video

Royal Challengers Bengaluru wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik said goodbye to IPL, with the Eliminator match against Rajasthan Royals being his last.

RCB shared an emotional video as Dinesh Karthik bid farewell to IPL

One of the finest servants of Indian cricket, Dinesh Karthik, said goodbye to the Indian Premier League (IPL) as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) was knocked out of the competition on Wednesday. RCB’s defeat against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Eliminator was Karthik’s final game in the T20 league, with the veteran wicket-keeper batter deciding to move on. RCB players also gave Karthik a guard of honor after the team’s elimination from the tournament before sharing a beautiful video in which Karthik’s wife, Deepika Pallikal, was interviewed.

The video shared by RCB starts with an interview with Virat Kohli where the franchise’s former skipper recalls his first interaction with Karthik in 2009.

“First time I met DK, I remember we were playing in South Africa if I am not wrong in the Champions Trophy 2009. It was the first time I shared the change-room with Dinesh and I found him to be very amusing, I would say hyper-active, confused person, most of the times he was moving all over the place, never stopping. That was my first impression of Dinesh,” Kohli said in the video.

“Outstanding talent, brilliant batter to watch and my first impression and present day impression are not far apart. Just that he has become wiser and calmed down a lot,” he added.

Virat also lauded Karthik’s honesty and courage as he shared an interesting anecdote from 2022 when the former didn’t have the best IPL. It was the wicket-keeper batter who sat him down and gave him an honest perspective about what could be going wrong.

“Off the field, I have had some really nice and interesting conversations with him. He is wise man, has great knowledge about a lot of things, not just cricket. I have thoroughly enjoyed my conversations with him. Even in that phase in 2022 when I did not have a great IPL season, I was really struggling for confidence, he sat me down a couple of times and gave me a very honest explanation of how he is seeing things and maybe I am not able to see them myself,” Kohli said.

“So, I just like his honesty and courage to go and speak to anyone about things that he dearly feels about. And that I think is the most special thing for me when it comes to Dinesh and that’s one thing I have always cherished about him. That’s why we get along really really well,” Kohli added.

Later in the video, Karthik’s wife, Deepika Pallikal, shares some memorable moments from the cricketer’s career while admitting that it would be tough for him to move on from the game. As Deepika shares the moments, she breaks down on camera.

Deepika, a professional squash player, urged Karthik to spend more time with her and their children now that he is retiring.
