Kuwait vs Maldives

After the Maldives chose to bowl first, their fast bowler Hassan Ibrahim made an impressive start by dismissing both Ravija Sandaruwan and Meet Bhavsar. Bhavsar was caught behind for just 5 runs, leaving Kuwait at a precarious 17 for 2 in the fourth over. However, their stand was broken when Ali Shunan bowled Anto for 40, bringing Maldives back into the contest.

Despite a brief slowdown in the following overs, Kuwait had built a solid foundation of 99 for 3 after 9 overs. Patel took advantage of this and accelerated the scoring rate by smashing Shunan for two sixes in the 12th over. He continued his onslaught in the 16th over, hitting three fours off Hassan Ibrahim’s bowling.

Kuwait’s captain, Yoosuf Azyan, caught his Maldivian counterpart, Mohamed Aslam, behind for 32. This brought Muhammad Umar to the crease, who contributed an unbeaten 30 off just 12 balls, including three massive sixes. Patel’s exceptional performance culminated in his maiden T20I century, which he achieved in only 48 deliveries.

Chasing a daunting target of 227 runs, Maldives received an early boost from Adam Nasif, who scored a rapid 27 off 13 balls, including three sixes. However, their momentum was halted when Yasin Patel trapped Nasif lbw, reducing Maldives to 39 for 1 in the fifth over.

Patel continued to trouble the Maldivian batters, claiming two more wickets and receiving support from Aslam, who picked up a pair of wickets in the middle overs. The Maldives lost their momentum and could only manage 44 runs in the final 15 overs of their chase, resulting in a significant defeat.

Hong Kong China vs Singapore

After being put into bat, Hong Kong China found themselves in early trouble as Anish Paraam dismissed Jamie Atkinson for just 3 runs in the third over. In the final over of the powerplay, he struck four sixes off Ramesh Kalimuthu, amassing 30 runs in the over.

Even when the field spread out, Zeeshan remained undeterred, receiving valuable support from his captain, who hit three sixes of his own. However, Nizakat’s innings ended when he was clean-bowled by Harsha Bharadwaj. One ball after being hit for a six, Akshay Puri got his revenge as Zeeshan was caught by Janak Prakash.

Despite these setbacks, Hong Kong China had a substantial lead at 124 for 3 after 12 overs. Aizaz Khan’s cameo of 30 runs and a valuable 22-run partnership between Ehsan Khan and Anas Khan for the eighth wicket propelled Hong Kong China to a competitive total of 201.
