Marcus Stoinis has committed to the Melbourne Stars for the long term, agreeing to a three-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through the end of BBL Season 16. The 34-year-old all-rounder sealed the deal before the BBL signing embargo took effect on January 24, officially announced by the Melbourne Stars.
Stoinis, widely regarded for his prowess in the T20 format, has built an outstanding record over the years. His T20 career spans 255 matches, during which he has accumulated 5,261 runs at an impressive strike rate of 136.96. This strong scoring ability makes him a significant force with the bat, consistently putting pressure on bowlers across different competitions.
Among his batting feats, Stoinis has one century and 27 half-centuries, with a career-best score of 147*. His ability to clear the boundary has been a hallmark of his game, evident in his 427 fours and 226 sixes, which underline his aggressive and impactful style of play. However, his contributions aren’t limited to batting alone.
As an all-rounder, Stoinis has also made his mark with the ball, picking up 118 wickets in T20s. Three four-wicket hauls are part of his bowling record; his best average is 4/15. Stoinis is an invaluable addition to any T20 team because of his ability to both score runs and capture crucial wickets.

“He is one of the most in-demand T20 players in the world and as we saw on New Year’s Eve again this year, when he was at his destructive best, he is one of very few players who can win a match off his own bat.
“As well as what Marcus brings on the field, he, along with the other senior players will play a huge role over the next few years in developing the next generation at the Stars.”
