Dhaka Endures Six Straight Losses – Bangladesh Premier League

Durdanto Dhaka endured their sixth straight defeat in the Bangladesh Premier League 2024, further deepening their struggles in the tournament. In a match held yesterday in Mirpur, they were edged out by the Sylhet Strikers, who secured a five-wicket victory. Despite their efforts, Dhaka could not turn the tide, and their run of poor form continues to be a significant concern for the team.

After being asked to bat first, Dhaka struggled to reach a modest total of 124 for losing eight wickets. The innings featured a significant shift in performance early on, as they had made a promising start by scoring 82 for the loss of just one wicket after the first 10 overs. This initial success was primarily due to an impressive partnership between Mohammad Naim and Saif Hassan, who contributed a crucial 78-run stand for the second wicket. Dhaka pacer Shoriful Islam performed by claiming three wickets in the match. This achievement elevated him to the top of the wicket-takers charts, bringing his total to 13 wickets, one more than Rangpur Riders’ Mahedi Hasan, currently in second place. Shoriful’s consistent and effective bowling has solidified his position as a leading bowler in the tournament. Meanwhile, legspinner Usman Qadir also made a notable contribution by taking two wickets.
